Chinatown

I finally got to go on a trip with Kandon for school. They went to Chinatown and were suppose to try different foods, but the only thing I could get them to eat was a shaved ice. They weren't even interested in the farmers market with a head of a pig. They just kept saying, "Is it time to go back to the bus yet." Oh well. I tried not to point out the homeless mand with no pants pushing a cart by, a hooker who said she wanted to be a kindergardener too, and the transvestite on the corner. Love kids field trips. Didn't know they could be so educational.

Playground

We enjoyed taking our neighbor friends to the bases here on Hawaii. They are the only places to find swings, so they were glad to swing. It is always nice to have extra kids to play with my kids while I watch.

New Year

New years in Hawaii is always interesting. The amount of fireworks is amazing. For a place where flying fireworks are illegal, it sure is lit up with them. By 8pm the smoke is thick and by midnight there is no chance of seeing any fireworks or your yard for that matter.

We also rang in Cliff's 34th birthday with a few card games with the neighbors and a Wii remote cake. Love ya.

Woo -Hoo they loved lighting their own fireworks and staying up late.

Beauty of Hawaii

The vast beauty of Hawaii catches us every now and then. WE took a trip the end of December, despite what the camera date says. We visited North Shore and Cliff was able to show the kids some crabs hidden in the cracks of the rocks.

Cliff dared the surf to come up and get him, finally on the last wave before leaving he almost slipped and got caught. WE also found when we returned to our spot after walking a ways, that the sea had claimed Kowen's flip flops. Poor guy had to walk barefoot to the car.

WE took a trip to north shore and had shaved ice of course, saw a muddy waterfall from all the rain. Certain beaches are also muddy water then you see the vast blue of the ocean, very interesting.

Kowen liked the wind in his hair and leaning how to shave.

Ignore pic dates, been meaning to fix that. We went as a fam to the Honolulu Lights. Not much, but a few big statues. The best was the Santa and Mrs. Claus in Hawaiian outfits. Glad to get everyone home. Another was a manger made out of huge candy canes. Weird.

Kowen loved to play duck hunt, but could only hit a few if close up. WE got a Wii for Christmas bc Kandon was going door to door asking the neighbors if he could play their Wii, so for their sanity we got one. It has been a fun family gift.
