Old Times, New Experiences!

So a friend of ours invited us to go to Carriage Hill Park and Farm. The kids loved to see old barns, chickens, pigs, horses, and experience the old country. It was nice to be in what we call the country without the Alabama redneck southern accent and dirtiness, aside from the poop.
They had the brown, grey, white, and black horses. Big pigs and little pigs. Sheep and even a donkey or his other unmentionable cousin.
Big horses, chickens oh yeah, but for some reason they didn't warm up to the pig right away. Calling a quick   breeze of an ear an "I touched the pig." Oh well.
Which horse do you like mom? Well, the brown was stunning, but the black with grey hair reminded me of dad! Ha just kidding Cliff.
They met a volunteer learning to sew his own handbag, or tool bag or whatever you want to call it to make it sound manly, but back then they carried bags.
Oh look at what mom found. Stilts. Why did she suggest trying them out? Oh I don't know. Guess she wanted to waste an hour as they tried to learn a talent. Yes and listen to fighting because there weren't enough big stilts to go around. Nahh that wasn't it. It must have been the experience and talent learning idea. Yeah we will go with that.

It took them all a long time, but they finally were able to go a little ways and try and race. That was a whole other problem. Go Kids Go!
Oh look ma, a hula hoop. No dear you roll it and hit it with a stick to keep it going. That was not a talent anyone for some reason could tackle except me. Yeah for mom. It was pretty simple, oh well I'll still cheer for me. Hoorah!
The kids went into the Dress up play area for what seemed like another hour. Plenty long enough for mom to browse all the collection out in the waiting areas and read most all of her park brochures. Yeah for me.
Cooking in the kitchen with play food, dressing up the boys, laundry. Loads of fun! Wish they would be so eager to do that at home. Maybe I should make some aprons.

 Just riding along!
Before we left we stopped off at the penny candy store.  I got up from my chair to go check on Kilee inside and came back to a cat in my seat. It didn't even try to get into my candy bag, (yes, I had to get candy too). The boys were just going to let me walk up and sit on it. Luckily for the cat, I saw it just in time. Calm kitty, stray kitty, hope you don't have fleas kitty.
It was just a nice day even for clouds and some rain, to take a stroll in the country side. Thanks for inviting us!

Skateboarding Belt Loop

So, mom took advantage again of some time and put Kandon on a board and said hey dad why don't you go over the rules of skating with Kandon so he earns his cub scout belt loop and doesn't break anything since he is attempting tricks instead of the basics. So, Cliff tried to teach Kandon how to move without pedaling and just side to side wiggling of board. It took a long time, but eventually they were able to move it a little bit like dad.

Not all around the driveway and around the basketball hoop and shoot and score in the hoop like dad, but better. Mom just prayed dad didn't fall too.

Kayaking Kids
We wanted to go to the pool one day, but found out it wasn't going to open til later because it had a Kayak learning activity.  The kids didn't want to go because they would have to get wet and come back later to swim, but mom was able to convince them that it would be fun and oh yeah it was free. So, if they ever wanted to kayak, it would be now, because it was well, FREE!

Kandon took right too it. Not even waiting to get all his papers signed and hand stamped like the others did properly. And to think he was my worst protester.
He did great until he started to play bumper boats. He was doing great til the end of the hour or so and well, down goes the old man. Or I should say over goes the nice old man. He claimed he was wobbly anyways, but I think he was just being nice. It's not like I didn't see it coming and warn Kandon several times. But who listens to mom.

Kowen had a great time too. He was a natural.  This was his first boat where he spent most of his time, but I can not tell you how many boats all three of them were in. There were blue, then black, and orange, yellow, green and red ones too. Kilee and Kowen enjoyed a two seater, but finally Kilee gave up trying to paddle with him. It was nice to see her try though.
Go Kilee Go! Lots of smiles and great fun as they paddled all around the pool. They were so hot when done. I asked the question, why didn't they just tump themselves over for a dip in the pool. Their response, "We could do that?"
Oh, the things you can learn if only you try and try and try again! Great job kiddos!
